Zagreb County Tourist Board Receives the “Sunflower of Croatian Rural Tourism” Award

At the 5th International Congress on Rural Tourism, held in Cavtat and attended by around 400 participants, the prestigious “Sunflower of Croatian Rural Tourism” awards were presented on Thursday. Among 138 nominated projects, an expert evaluation committee selected 59 of the best projects for 2021.

The project “Via VINO”, which brings together the wine, gastronomy and cultural story of Zagreb County, was awarded a Bronze Charter. Importantly, this is not a single-day event but a month-long concept spanning four consecutive weekends, featuring a diverse range of high-quality programmes. The initiative was designed to promote the wine roads of the Zagreb green ring and brought together more than 65 winemakers from across the county.

“Our goal is to foster more intensive and innovative cooperation between producers and those who present finished products to guests — in other words, to promote our wine roads by pairing them with the destination itself and by creating new tourism locations that reflect current trends and are tailored to target audiences. We extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated winemakers for their support. We are extremely proud that our project has been recognised and honoured by tourism professionals,” emphasised Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
