With domestic arrivals up 9% and overnight stays up 7% in the first nine months of the year, Zagreb County invites visitors to enjoy October getaways filled with local flavours, encounters with winemakers and producers, cultural events and town celebrations..
Taste pumpkin seed oil where it is made, meet a winemaker at their winery, gather around a traditional Turopolje table or spend the day at a chestnut festival. These are just some of the experiences awaiting domestic visitors in Zagreb County this autumn. The Zagreb County Tourist Board invites visitors to discover the places, people and traditions that give the region its distinctive character this October and find their own reason for a day trip or weekend getaway.
The growing interest among domestic visitors is also reflected in the results for the first nine months of 2026, with domestic arrivals up 9% and overnight stays up 7% compared with the same period last year. October brings new opportunities to discover the destination, from the Bučijada pumpkin festival and chestnut festivals to Via Vino and From Soil to Signature, Gastro Turopolja, concerts and town celebrations. At the same time, the Zagreb County Tourist Board continues its targeted promotional activities in international markets, introducing the region’s local offer to new audiences.
“This autumn, we invite domestic visitors to make time for Zagreb County and experience it through encounters with the people who live and create here. Meet our winemakers, taste products from our family farms, discover local recipes and take part in the traditions of our towns and villages. These are the experiences that create a genuine connection with a destination and inspire visitors to return. The growth in domestic arrivals and overnight stays gives us additional encouragement to continue connecting local producers, hospitality businesses and event organisers, making their offer more accessible and recognisable. We want our guests to stay longer, discover more of our destinations and return again, while ensuring that the value generated by these visits is also felt by our local hosts,” said Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
