Dutch journalists were captivated by the wine and gastronomy offerings of Zagreb County

The Tourist Board of Zagreb County has observed a consistent increase in the number of visitors annually, comprising both domestic and international tourists. Notably, the region has attracted wine enthusiasts and nature lovers from the Netherlands and the United States. The interest of Dutch journalists in including this area in their press study tour, facilitated by the Croatian Tourist Board in collaboration with the Zagreb County Tourist Board, underscores the appeal of the destination.

The journalists, including prominent figures such as Petronella Houweling, the editor of Winelife magazine, and her photographer René de Waal, visited Zagreb County. During their sojourn, they availed themselves of the opportunity to tour the Lagradi Winery, Šember, and Korak, and partake in traditional fare at Restaurant Karlo. They were impressed by the offerings of Plešivica, which appealed to even the most discerning palates. Their accommodation at the Princess Hotel in Jastrebarsko, renowned for its exceptional service and burgeoning patronage over the past five years, further enriched their experience. The cadre of Dutch journalists was also joined by an esteemed American journalist, Dr. Elizabeth Smith, who was notably captivated by Plešivica due to its exceptional vinicultural experiences.

We put a lot of effort into our communication and promotional activities, and I'm thrilled when our hard work pays off. Zagreb County is committed to promoting sustainability to preserve our natural resources. Aside from the stunning scenery, this area is also known for its exceptional wines and delicious homemade food crafted from local ingredients. It's truly rewarding to see the genuine delight and enjoyment on the faces of our guests, such as the journalists from the Netherlands and our visitors from America, as they experience everything we have to offer for all the senses, as mentioned by the director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.

The visit by Dutch journalists presented an exceptional opportunity to showcase Zagreb County on the global stage and to feature the destination in prestigious magazines, attracting discerning and sustainability-conscious tourists. Attracting guests who truly appreciate and seek genuine value in their vacation experiences is challenging. Zagreb County has shown remarkably positive trends, with a 19% increase in tourist arrivals and overnight stays in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year. Notably, there has been a remarkable increase of 44% in arrivals and 56% in overnight stays compared to the record year of 2019.

The Tourist Board of Zagreb County emphasizes that embracing sustainability as a way of life can yield substantial returns when practised diligently and conscientiously.
