At the 2025 Days of Regional Development and EU Funds event, held from December 2 to December 4 in Šibenik, the project PRONACUL – Promotion of Natural and Cultural Heritage for the Development of Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas received notable recognition. Competing against 46 projects from across Croatia, PRONACUL secured first place as determined by readers of Jutarnji List and second place in the category of cross-border cooperation. These accolades underscore the project's exemplary quality, long-term significance, and substantial contribution to the region's sustainable development.
The success of this initiative can be attributed to the collaboration of a diverse array of partners and experts, alongside the dedicated efforts of the teams responsible for its development and leadership. As Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, has remarked, the project has "significantly enhanced the destination's capabilities, improved the management of natural and cultural heritage, and yielded tangible benefits for the local community—recognitions such as these further validate that impact."
In conjunction with the success of PRONACUL, Zagreb County has attained another significant accomplishment: Velika Gorica has been recognised as the most attractive city for residence. This designation is a testament to the region’s ongoing commitment to development, meticulous urban planning, robust infrastructure, and a high standard of living, which attract an increasing number of both residents and visitors.
These accomplishments underscore the stable, long-term developmental trajectory of Zagreb County, which is founded on principles of sustainability, robust partnerships, and the creation of substantial value for the community.
