The Zagreb County Tourist Board has officially launched the sixth edition of Photo Zagreb County, its annual photography competition that has grown into one of the destination's most recognisable platforms for creating and promoting its visual identity. Professional and amateur photographers alike are invited to capture the moments that best tell the story of Zagreb County from their unique perspectives.
For six consecutive years, the competition has brought together photographers from across Croatia, whose images have revealed the beauty, diversity and authenticity of Zagreb County. Hundreds of photographs from previous editions have become an important part of the destination's visual identity. They are now featured in promotional campaigns, exhibitions, and marketing activities targeting both domestic and international audiences.
This year's competition places a special focus on events and festivals, as well as tradition, cultural and historical heritage, natural landscapes, rural life, and wine and gastronomy experiences. Events best reflect the spirit of the destination, showcasing its traditions, community, emotions and authentic way of life. The aim of the competition is not only to reward outstanding photography but also to tell the story of Zagreb County through compelling visual narratives that inspire visitors to explore the destination year-round.
"Today, Photo Zagreb County is much more than a photography competition. Over the past six years, it has evolved into a project through which, together with photographers, we have been creating the visual identity of Zagreb County while preserving moments that become part of our destination's lasting story. Every photograph offers a new perspective, evokes new emotions and tells a unique story that strengthens the recognition of Zagreb County. This year, we are placing particular emphasis on events and festivals because they beautifully connect people, traditions, cultural heritage, local gastronomy and customs. Photography has a unique ability to capture atmosphere and authenticity while inspiring visitors to experience these moments for themselves. We want every image to become an invitation to visit Zagreb County. I encourage all photographers—both professionals and enthusiasts—to share their vision of our destination. We are looking for photographs that do more than simply capture a scene; we are looking for images that tell stories, evoke emotions and create lasting memories. I believe these photographs will become new ambassadors of Zagreb County, showcasing its people, places and authentic experiences," said Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
Photographs may be submitted in the following categories: Events and Festivals, Tradition, Cultural and Historical Heritage, Outdoor and Nature Experiences, Rural Landscapes, and Wine and Gastronomy Experiences. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of experts based on their originality, artistic merit, storytelling, technical quality and composition. In addition to the jury awards, a selection of prizes will be decided by public vote on the competition's social media channels.
The competition offers an attractive prize fund, including stays at tourism properties, gastronomic experiences and wine tastings throughout Zagreb County. In addition to promoting the destination through photography, the initiative also highlights local tourism businesses, restaurants, wineries and producers while showcasing the authentic experiences that define Zagreb County. The winning photographs will be presented in a dedicated exhibition and will be used in the destination's future promotional campaigns and marketing materials.
