On 11 May 2026, the Zagreb County Tourist Board received contracts from the Croatian National Tourist Board for the allocation of funds to projects in tourism underdeveloped areas and continental destinations for 2026, financed through the Fund for Tourism Underdeveloped Areas and Continental Tourism.
The funding was approved based on the Decision of the Croatian National Tourist Board’s Tourism Council and relates to four projects submitted by the Zagreb County Tourist Board. All submitted projects were approved, confirming the high quality of project preparation and the continuity of efforts to develop tourism within the county.
The approved projects include activities related to destination certification, sustainable and regenerative tourism, and the development of European projects. Their implementation will further strengthen the capacities of local tourist boards, improve the preparation of development initiatives, and provide stronger support to areas with tourism potential that require additional investment and professional guidance.
The particular value of these projects lies in their practical application. They are focused on the specific needs of destinations, from improving cooperation among local stakeholders to developing initiatives that draw on the area's identity, natural and cultural heritage, and responsible tourism management.
Through projects such as these, the Zagreb County Tourist Board continues to lay strong foundations for the stable, long-term development of continental tourism, with a focus on cooperation, sustainability, and the quality of the tourism offer.
