The Zagreb County Tourist Board organised a photography competition titled “Photo Zagreb County” aimed at selecting the most beautiful photographs of Zagreb County. The awards ceremony was held in the presence of the winning photographers, whose works impressed the expert jury of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. As part of the ceremony, the awarded photographs were presented in an exhibition at the Zagreb County Tourist Board's offices.
“The photography competition offers a perspective on the tourist attractions of Zagreb County through the eyes of visitors, which we consider extremely important. It is fascinating to see the photographs and feel the emotions conveyed by our guests. The Tourist Board then uses these images to promote the destination through our campaigns. This competition is particularly valuable as it reveals visitors’ interests and enables meaningful collaboration with them. Once again this year, we received a large number of outstanding photographs, and I would like to thank everyone who participated and showed us how they see Zagreb County. The winners were awarded a sculpture by Mate Turić, an academic sculptor from Vrbovec, which will remain a lasting reminder of their participation in the competition. Their photographs represent the greatest reward for Zagreb County and for all of us working in tourism.
Mate Turić, whose sculptures were presented as awards, is also known by his artistic name Mata CROata and is considered one of Croatia’s most promising young sculptors, unlike earlier artists from Vrbovec—primarily painters and sculptors associated with the naïve art movement—Mata CROata stands out for his originality and the powerful expression of his stone sculptures, a striking contrast to the gentle landscape of the Prigorje region.
As a symbolic gesture of appreciation, the award winners also received gift vouchers for Rugvica, the county’s largest shopping destination, and Designer Outlet Croatia.
