CLIMATE IMPULSE – A Revolution in Sustainable Aviation

The First Green Hydrogen Aircraft to Embark on a Historic Round-the-World Flight in 2028!

The Future of Aviation – Zero Emissions, Zero Compromise

Imagine an aircraft flying around the world without emitting harmful gases or relying on fossil fuels. Climate Impulse makes this vision a reality—the world’s first aircraft powered by liquid hydrogen, designed to complete a non-stop journey around the globe in 2028. This project is not only a technological breakthrough but also a powerful symbol of hope for a cleaner and more sustainable future in aviation.

How Does It Work?

Liquid Hydrogen Propulsion : The aircraft uses an electric propulsion system powered by fuel cells that operate on liquid hydrogen, cooled to –253°C.

Zero-Emission Technology : Instead of harmful emissions, the only by-product of the flight is water vapour.

Advanced Materials Innovation: Thanks to cutting-edge composite materials developed by Syensqo, the aircraft can safely store hydrogen and withstand the extreme conditions of a multi-day flight.

Who Is Behind the Project?

The Climate Impulse project is led by Swiss explorer Bertrand Piccard, widely known for the Solar Impulse mission, which achieved the first round-the-world flight powered exclusively by solar energy. In this ambitious venture, he has joined forces with engineer Raphaël Dinelli, an expert in composite materials and sustainable technologies. Their shared mission is clear: to prove that decarbonising aviation is not a distant future—it is already happening.

Why Is This Project Important?

Aviation is one of the world’s major contributors to pollution, but projects like Climate Impulse demonstrate that viable alternatives exist. This revolutionary flight has the potential to transform how we think about transportation, energy, and sustainability. The goal is not merely to fly around the world, but to inspire entire industries to accelerate the transition toward low-carbon solutions.

Roadmap to the Historic Flight

• 2025 – Testing of fuel cells and propulsion systems

• 2026 – First test flights of the aircraft

• 2028 – A historic, zero-CO₂-emission flight around the world

Did You Know?

• Hydrogen produces three times more energy per kilogram than fossil fuels.

• During its nine-day flight, the aircraft will emit only water vapour—no harmful emissions.

• Bertrand Piccard has already redefined what is possible with Solar Impulse—and is now taking innovation one step further.

Together Towards a Sustainable Future

Climate Impulse is more than a technological project—it is a global call to action. The innovations powering this aircraft can be applied across multiple sectors, driving sustainability in energy, transport, and industry.

Join the global movement for a cleaner world and become part of a story that is changing the course of history.
