A Strong Boost for the Promotion of Zagreb County Tourism

Winning awards at prestigious international tourism film festivals represents a significant milestone and a powerful incentive for promoting Zagreb County's tourism and wine routes. The destination film A Taste Above, created in collaboration between the Zagreb County Tourist Board and the production company Sekunde, marks an important step forward in destination marketing. “Being ranked among the world’s top ten tourism films is a great recognition for the Zagreb County Tourist Board and a strong affirmation of our work over the past three and a half years, as well as of the destination marketing direction we have chosen. Through this film, the wine routes of Zagreb County were introduced to numerous festival participants and expert jurors, allowing us to continue successfully promoting the unforgettable locations of our county,” said Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. She added: “Alongside destination campaigns such as the Via VINO film festival, held in the county’s vineyards and wineries over the past two years, we are pleased that our tourism promotion activities are being recognised and awarded on international markets.”

A Particularly Significant Award from a Wine Country – Portugal

For a film with a wine-related theme, awards from festivals held in renowned wine-producing countries are particularly important. Portugal, one of Europe’s leading wine destinations, lends even greater significance to the ART&TUR award and further strengthens the international promotion of the Zagreb County Wine Routes.

“Participation in international film festivals, where films from around the world are evaluated side by side, is a strong indicator of how effectively a message can be conveyed through film. From a production perspective, we are extremely proud of this international success, having highlighted the wine routes of Zagreb County and created — together with the Zagreb County Tourist Board — a film that has been awarded at every festival to which it was submitted,” said Martina Miličević, the film’s producer.

This year’s films were evaluated by an expert jury of 35 members from countries around the world, including Brazil, Mauritius, Iran, and Canada. The Croatian jury representative, Spomenka Saraga, film producer and Director of the Zagreb TourFilm Festival, expressed her pride and enthusiasm for the awarded Croatian films. “Croatia presented itself in the best possible way. Several Croatian tourism films were screened on the big screen and selected for the award competition, accompanied by additional festival activities, including tasting workshops that demonstrated how wine and extra virgin olive oil perfectly complement film art and tourism. The highlight was undoubtedly the four awards brought home to Croatia. I am proud that, thanks to the Zagreb TourFilm Festival and the educational programmes supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board, these outstanding films had the opportunity to compete internationally and ultimately win significant awards,” she said. She concluded by congratulating the award recipients and the Zagreb County Tourist Board on the film “A Taste Above”, describing it as yet another wine and gastronomy invitation to festival guests in Portugal to visit Zagreb, its surroundings, and the next Zagreb TourFilm Festival.
