St. Martin’s Day in Zagreb County – A Magical Day When Grape Must Becomes Wine

The feast of St. Martin, the patron saint of winemakers and winegrowers, is celebrated on 11 November. According to long-standing tradition, this day has been marked for centuries by the ceremonial “baptism” of grape must, symbolically transforming it into young wine. This year, St. Martin’s Day will once again be celebrated throughout Zagreb County. Alongside the indispensable grape must, visitors will have the opportunity to sample a variety of traditional seasonal dishes, including roast goose with mlinci, chestnuts, buncek, sausages, sauerkraut, and, of course, young wine.

Discover something for yourself within The rich and diverse St. Martin’s Day celebration programme across Zagreb County.
