According to the latest eVisitor system data, Zagreb County has so far recorded approximately 78% more arrivals and 65% more overnight stays compared to the same period last year.
Compared to the record-breaking tourism year of 2019, arrivals have reached around 87% of that year’s total, while the number of overnight stays is already on par with 2019 levels. This year, the most visited destinations in the county were Velika Gorica, Sveta Nedelja, Jastrebarsko, Samobor, and Ivanić-Grad. eVisitor data also shows that, in addition to domestic tourists, the largest groups of international visitors come from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, the USA, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In terms of accommodation types, the majority of guests stayed in hotels, private accommodation facilities, campsites, and vacation homes.
"With a wide range of activities, charming towns, numerous walking and educational trails, castles to explore, renowned wine routes, and the county’s famous gastronomic offerings, the green ring around Zagreb is an ideal destination for a holiday far from crowds and mass tourism," says Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. "We believe these are the main reasons why vacation homes in Zagreb County are such a hit this summer. Notably, the county now features over fifty new accommodation facilities, including twenty high-quality vacation homes. Through tourism mapping, we identified that one of the key challenges in the county has been the inadequate structure and quality of accommodation. By achieving these results and increasing high-quality lodging options, we are building a sustainable tourism development model with high added value," says Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
