Today, August 15, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven.
It is also a public holiday in Croatia. On this Catholic feast, the faithful commemorate the core dogma of their faith: that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, joining her resurrected son, Jesus Christ. For Catholics, this event represents the culmination of Mary’s life devoted to God, the ultimate goal and fulfilment toward which every human existence is directed.
