According to the latest data from the eVisitor system, Zagreb County recorded approximately 58% more tourist arrivals and around 50% more overnight stays in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period last year. Compared with the record year of 2019, the county achieved about 91% of arrivals, while overnight stays were about 2% higher than in 2019.
By destination, the most visited towns in the county were Velika Gorica, Sveta Nedelja, Jastrebarsko, Samobor and Ivanić-Grad.
Data from the eVisitor system also show that, alongside domestic visitors, the largest numbers of guests came from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, the United States, the Czech Republic, France and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“By following global tourism trends based on storytelling, we are creating campaigns aimed at developing a sustainable tourism destination in line with visitor preferences. Today’s travellers increasingly choose outdoor experiences, want to discover local cuisine and offers, and authentically experience the destination—such as through our VIA Vino festival,” said Ms Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. She added that “Zagreb County is an ideal holiday destination, away from crowds and mass tourism, yet just a short distance from the city of Zagreb.”
