54th Continental Croatia Wine Exhibition

The 54th Continental Croatia Wine Exhibition opens today at 6 p.m. in the “Kraluš” Hall in Sveti Ivan Zelina, featuring tastings of more than 400 of the finest wines from continental Croatia.

Musical programme: Voljen Grbac and Mirko Švenda ŽIGA

Sveti Ivan Zelina boasts a rich and longstanding winemaking tradition and proudly stands as the only town in Croatia with a continuous wine exhibition tradition spanning more than a century and a half. The first wine exhibition in this region was held as early as 1860, thanks to Dragutin Stražimir (1821–1891). Through his dedicated work and the knowledge compiled in his book Vinogradar (“The Winegrower”), Stražimir significantly contributed not only to the advancement of viticulture but also to the broader economic awareness of the region. He laid the foundations of modern winemaking practices and presented his wines at exhibitions across Europe. The significance of this exhibition is further underscored by the fact that expert evaluation panels have assessed more than twelve thousand wine samples to date. Such remarkable interest firmly positions Sveti Ivan Zelina among the most important Croatian towns in the development of wine culture and tradition. Visitors are invited to experience an evening dedicated to excellence in winemaking, heritage and the vibrant spirit of continental Croatia.
