We are building the identity of InterWine as a cross-border destination together

On Monday, April 14, 2025, in Velika Gorica, the presentation of the significant European Union project titled “InterWine: Combining Cultural Heritage and Tourism to Create a Sustainable Cross-Border Destination” was conducted as part of the Interreg initiative. This project, which has an estimated value of EUR 1,383,080.02, received co-financing from the European Fund for Regional Development under the cross-border cooperation program Interreg Slovenia-Croatia. The initiative brings together seven partners from Croatia and Slovenia with the objective of developing an innovative tourism offering that integrates cultural heritage along with the traditions of winemaking and viticulture. The primary goal is to promote sustainable development and enhance the attractiveness of the region as a tourist destination. During this presentation, key stakeholders from Velika Gorica, Pušće, and Brežice convened to collaboratively establish the vision, mission, and values of the new cross-border destination, InterWine, through an interactive workshop.

Through collaborative efforts, constructive dialogue, and innovative methodologies—including SWOT analyses, group work, Mentimeter, and the co-designing of future initiatives—participants established the foundational elements of an authentic identity for a destination that integrates wine, culture, and local heritage.

The workshop transcended mere destination; it focused on the emotions, experiences, and values we aim to impart to every visitor. InterWine represents not just a physical space, but rather a narrative, an immersive experience, and a vibrant community.

The InterWine project seeks to establish a sustainable cross-border destination by integrating the regions of Brežice Municipality, Pušća Municipality, and Velika Gorica. This initiative aims to foster the development of a comprehensive tourism offering that capitalises on these areas' unique attributes. The active participation of local stakeholders is deemed essential for the successful execution of this project.
