Samobor has long been a destination for hikers. Still, it has also increasingly gained popularity among cyclists, owing to the seven thematic routes that traverse 150 kilometers of the region's most scenic landscapes. These routes encompass diverse features, including secluded forests, panoramic viewpoints, and picturesque wine roads, extending to the Žumberak – Samoborsko gorje Nature Park. Cycling in this area presents not merely a form of recreation but also a unique opportunity to appreciate the region's rich historical, gastronomic, and natural heritage. The tradition of cycling in Samobor has been established since the late 19th century, further enhancing its appeal as a significant site for outdoor enthusiasts.
Samobor has established itself as a preferred destination for day excursions. It boasts exceptional gastronomy and a diverse array of cultural events. In addition to these offerings, the area provides a comprehensive cycling experience and numerous outdoor activities. Iva Pehar, the director of the Samobor Tourist Board, stated, "We are confident that attendees of the fair will recognize Samobor as an ideal destination catering to cyclists of all levels, from leisure enthusiasts to seasoned professionals."
Dugo Selo, located near Zagreb, is advancing a new outdoor destination project in collaboration with Sveti Ivan Zelina and Vrbovec. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive network of cycling, walking, and equestrian trails ideally suited for exploring the gentle hills, wine roads, and lesser-known areas of the eastern segment of Zagreb County.
Dugo Selo has made significant advancements in its cycling infrastructure and events in recent years, thereby enhancing its appeal as a destination for active holiday enthusiasts and cycling professionals alike. This is particularly evident through our hosting of participants in national and international competitions at the Dugo Selo pump track. The Bologna Fair represents an ideal opportunity to showcase the potential and distinctive characteristics of our region, especially considering our location on one of the most attractive cycling routes in Zagreb County," stated Karmela Vukov Colić, Director of the Dugo Selo Tourist Board.
