In recent years, Zagreb County has been strengthening its position as a sustainable destination that seamlessly blends heritage, nature and contemporary experiences. In 2024 alone, the region hosted 1,167 events and festivals, while tourism continues to show steady growth in 2025. According to the eVisitor system, September recorded 7.5% more arrivals and 2% more overnight stays compared to the same month last year. The increase is especially notable among international visitors, who achieved over 10% more arrivals and more than 2% more overnight stays, clearly highlighting the destination’s growing global recognition. Since the beginning of the year, Zagreb County has recorded nearly 135,000 overnight stays.
October in Zagreb County: A Celebration of Autumn Colors, Flavors and Traditions October brings the whole rhythm of autumn to Zagreb County — a season rich in colours, aromas and unforgettable experiences. Vineyards and forests become a vibrant backdrop for events that unite tradition and modernity. Bučijada in Ivanić-Grad draws thousands of visitors as Croatia’s largest fair dedicated to pumpkin oil and pumpkin products. Gastro Turopolja in Velika Gorica celebrates local flavours and heritage. Zelina Chestnut Festival gathers families and nature lovers in an authentic autumn atmosphere. The season reaches its highlight with Via Vino 2025, powered by Interwine, a spectacular wine event that this year takes on an international dimension — reinforcing Zagreb County’s position as a rising star on the European wine map.
Sports Events Add an Extra Layer of Excitement The sporting calendar elevates the autumn experience even further. CRO Race once again brings world-class cycling through Samobor, Sveta Nedelja and Jastrebarsko, attracting elite global cyclists. Croatia Rally continues to cement the region’s place on the world map of major automotive events. This dynamic blend of culture, gastronomy, wine and sport makes autumn in Zagreb County truly unique and unmistakably recognisable.
