From Samobor to Vrbovec, from music festivals to traditional fairs, Zagreb County invites visitors to discover the diversity of its summer experiences.
The Zagreb County Tourist Board presents an exciting programme of events taking place throughout July and August 2026, featuring cultural festivals, sports tournaments, children's workshops and gastronomic fairs across the county.
The programme further reinforces Zagreb County's reputation as a destination where tradition, nature and contemporary cultural experiences come together.
Highlights of the July and August Programme
One of the cultural highlights of the summer is the 15th International Summer School for Young Musicians and the YoungMasters Festival, taking place in Samobor from 20 August to 4 September. Samobor will also host the 40th Days of Rudarska Greblica on 4 and 5 July in the village of Rude, one of the region's longest-running traditional heritage events celebrating the famous local delicacy.
From 28 to 30 August, Vrbovec will host the 45th "What Our Ancestors Ate" Traditional Food Festival. This event attracts visitors from across Croatia and abroad who wish to discover the authentic culinary heritage of continental Croatia.
Ivanić-Grad offers a vibrant summer programme featuring children's theatre performances, stand-up comedy evenings and themed outdoor workshops for children. Throughout July and August, visitors can also enjoy the interactive "Windows into the Past" heritage trail and the free Spray Park water playground located in the Croatian Veterans' Park.
Throughout August, Sveta Nedelja will host Domenikana – Summer in Sveta Nedelja, a month-long programme featuring open-air cinema screenings, sports activities and the popular Great Retro 90's Dance Party with special guest Ivana Banfić on 28 August.
Along the banks of the Kupa River in Pisarovina, the Kupa Evenings festival (17–19 July) combines live concerts, a culinary competition, a handicrafts fair and family-friendly entertainment. The summer programme concludes with the traditional Kupa Kayak Descent, taking participants from Pisarovina to Pokupsko.
From 18 to 23 August, Velika Gorica will host the Formula Student Alpe Adria competition at the Bugatti Mičevec testing ground, one of the few Formula Student engineering competitions held in this part of Europe.
Krašić offers a diverse programme throughout both summer months, including the Krašić Cycling Tour, football tournaments and the Flavours of Krašić local farmers' markets (25 July and 29 August), where visitors can sample a wide selection of regional products from family farms.
