The Zagreb County Tourist Board proudly announces its accession to the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative dedicated to the development, implementation, and transparent reporting of responsible business practices.
By joining the initiative, the Zagreb County Tourist Board becomes part of a global network of thousands of organisations and companies committed to responsible business conduct with the shared goal of building a more sustainable and equitable global marketplace. The UN Global Compact calls on organisations to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption, while actively supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
Tourism is more than an industry. It shapes destinations, communities, and stories that remain long after visitors return home. For this reason, it is important to us that the development of tourism in Zagreb County is grounded in values that extend beyond short-term objectives. Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact today brings together more than 25,000 participants across more than 160 countries and more than 70 national networks, and the Zagreb County Tourist Board is proud to share in this collective commitment.
“By joining the UN Global Compact, the Zagreb County Tourist Board is undertaking a concrete commitment to the principles of responsible and sustainable development. Tourism holds significant potential to drive positive change within communities, and we are determined to harness that potential in a way that aligns with global standards and values,” said Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
As a participant in the UN Global Compact, the Zagreb County Tourist Board commits to annual Communication on Progress reporting, transparently presenting to the public and stakeholders the concrete steps taken to implement the Ten Principles.
We believe that responsible tourism is not a limitation, but an opportunity, and that every step in this direction helps make Zagreb County a better place to live and travel. More information about our activities and initiatives is available on the Zagreb County Tourist Board’s profile on the UN Global Compact platform.
