The PRONACUL Project, in which the Zagreb County Tourist Board participated as a partner, has been nominated for the Best European Project 2025.
This international initiative brought together partners from Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina to position natural and cultural heritage as a key driver of sustainable tourism in the Adriatic–Ionian region.
– A joint methodology for heritage management was developed, based on the active involvement of all stakeholders — from institutions to local communities.
– A Virtual Chamber was established, a digital platform for knowledge exchange, best practices and the development of new tourism products.
– In 15 pilot areas, management models were tested, resulting in the proposal of a shared Regional Route.
Through these achievements, PRONACUL strengthened the capacities of institutions, local communities and entrepreneurs, created a foundation for long-term heritage valorisation, and set new standards for sustainable tourism in the 21st century.
