Zagreb County recorded excellent tourism results in the first month of 2026. An analysis of eVisitor data indicates steady growth in both arrivals and overnight stays, accompanied by a noticeable increase in interest from domestic guests.
OVERALL RESULTS (01 January – 03 February 2026)
A comparison with the same period last year confirms the destination’s continuous growth:
• Attivals:13,542 (Index 111 – increase of 11%)
• Overnight stays:29.845 (Index 106 – increase 6%)
• International touristsAccount for over 50% of total overnight stays, with a strong presence of business travellers and transit tourism.
• Domestic touristsRecorded a 7% increase, confirming the growing appeal of the “green ring” of Zagreb County among domestic weekend visitors.
Top Destinations by Number of Overnight Stays
The highest tourism traffic was recorded in destinations offering a combination of business, wine & gastronomy, and wellness tourism:
1. Velika Gorica: 10,450 overnight stays (leading destination with continuous growth)
2. Jastrebarsko: 6,267 overnight stays (outstanding results in wine tourism)
3. Sveta Nedelja: 5,073 overnight stays (strong focus on business and cycling tourism)
4. Samobor: 3,282 overnight stays (traditionally the strongest weekend destination)
5. Ivanić-Grad: 1,492 overnight stays (stable results in health tourism)
Brief Overview of the Results
The analysis shows that Zagreb County has successfully navigated the winter period. Sveta Nedelja stands out as the absolute leader in overnight stay growth at the beginning of February (+55%), while Jastrebarsko and Samobor lead in average length of stay on weekends.
These figures clearly demonstrate that investments in accommodation quality and the development of specialised tourism products—such as wine routes, cycling trails, and events—are delivering tangible results.
