Zagreb County is currently hosting part of a study trip for Dutch journalists and travel influencers, taking place from 27 to 31 May and organised by the Croatian National Tourist Board. The trip focuses on presenting continental Croatia to the Dutch market, with a special emphasis on nature, active holidays, enogastronomy, and authentic local experiences.
The guests’ first encounter with the destination began upon their arrival at Franjo Tuđman Airport, where they were welcomed by Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. Alongside a warm welcome and a brief introduction to the county, the Dutch guests were presented with a programme that will take them through Samobor, Žumberak, Plešivica, and Velika Gorica over the coming days. The visit includes Julian Beukhof from the NatureScanner platform, Wanda Bregman from Travelvalley, and Danique van Stralendorff from the platform Your Little Black Book.
“We are delighted that Dutch journalists and travel influencers are beginning their study trip through Croatia right here in Zagreb County. This market particularly appreciates nature stays, active exploration, high-quality gastronomy, and experiences with a strong local identity. That is precisely why we want to introduce them to a destination that is not discovered merely through sightseeing, but through encounters with local people, regional flavours, traditions, and landscapes that leave a lasting impression,” said Ivana Alilović, Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.
The programme in Zagreb County begins in Samobor, where guests will enjoy an introduction to local gastronomy with lunch at Samoborska Klet. Samobor will present itself through its blend of tradition, charming town atmosphere, and distinctive flavours. At the same time, the programme also includes tastings of the famous Samobor cream cake and bermet, two products deeply connected to the town’s identity. The gastronomic experience of the first day will conclude with dinner at Restaurant Cantilly, recognised for its approach based on local ingredients and sustainable cuisine.
From Samobor, the journey continues towards Žumberak and the Sošice Visitor Centre, where the Dutch guests will discover the natural and cultural highlights of the Žumberak – Samoborsko Gorje Nature Park. Through expert guidance, a visit to the Magave family farm, and exploration of the area by electric bicycles, Žumberak will reveal its green and tranquil side: preserved nature, scenic viewpoints, rural charm, and an ideal setting for outdoor activities.
The next stop is Plešivica, one of Zagreb County’s most renowned wine destinations. Guests will enjoy guided presentations and tastings of wines and sparkling wines at Braje Wine House and Ivančić Griffin Winery. At the same time, the Plešivica experience will conclude with an eno-gastronomic programme at Restaurant Ivančić. Through local specialities, regional ingredients, and the area's wine story, visitors will experience a gastronomy that naturally complements the rolling Plešivica vineyards.
The final part of their stay in Zagreb County takes them to Velika Gorica, where they will visit Brigljević Distillery and take part in a craft gin workshop focused on Turopolje gin and whisky. The programme concludes with dinner at Restaurant Mon Ami, featuring gastronomic delicacies prepared with local ingredients and dishes enriched with Turopolje truffles.
This study trip, organised by the Croatian National Tourist Board, represents an important opportunity to present continental Croatia to the Dutch market. Through this rich and carefully designed programme, the Zagreb County Tourist Board showcases a destination with its own rhythm, strong local character, and experiences that connect nature, wine, gastronomy, and a sustainable approach to tourism development.
