The Tourist Board of Zagreb County has recently announced a public tender to allocate grants within their Program to bolster the Competitiveness and Quality of the Green Ring Destination Offer. The main goal of this competition is to encourage tourism development in Zagreb County, promote sustainable tourism, and enhance the overall tourist experience.

The primary objectives are to enhance the destination's competitiveness, promote sustainable tourism, and prolong the tourist season.

The grant awarding budget amounts to EUR 45,000.00, with a maximum grant allowance of EUR 3,000.00, VAT included, per project.

The allocated funds are intended to enhance accommodation facilities, introduce innovative tourist amenities, support the "Vacation in Zagreb County" platform, and invest in energy efficiency and environmental protection. Entities ranging from business organisations to family farms, associations, and individuals involved in tourism activities are eligible to apply. The Tourist Board of Zagreb County is making every effort to assist all tourism-related entities in this region to develop sustainably and enrich the overall offering, as emphasised by Ivana Alilović, the Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board.

According to her, the evaluation of the projects will consider various criteria such as originality, contribution towards sustainable and digital tourism, and the communication approach adopted with the public.

Effective communication is a crucial aspect of boosting tourism potential. We must articulate all that we can offer to our prospective guests. Even though communication tends to take a backseat for tourism organisations, we aim to change that and prioritise it as a critical factor. Our region holds a wealth of untapped potential, and we are working towards harnessing it to its fullest. The road ahead may be challenging, but we remain optimistic about our progress so far, as stated by Director Alilović.

The development of the Green Ring tourist destination is open to all interested participants who wish to contribute. The deadline for submitting applications to this public tender is October 20, 2023.
